Privacy Policy

SyntheticPen ("the application", "we", "us") is a Windows desktop application that replays vector geometry as synthetic pen and cursor input. This policy explains what information the application does and does not handle.

Summary: SyntheticPen does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. It runs entirely on your device. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no advertising, no account, and no network communication of any kind.

Information we collect

None. SyntheticPen does not collect or process personal information, usage data, device identifiers, location, or contacts. It does not create a user account and does not require sign-in.

Local files and settings

Any SVGs or motion profiles you open are read from your computer and remain on your computer. Application settings are stored locally in your Windows user profile under %APPDATA%\SyntheticPen. These files never leave your device and are not transmitted to us or any third party. You may delete them at any time.

When diagnostics are enabled in development builds, the application may write log files to a local debug folder for troubleshooting. Release builds distributed through the Microsoft Store do not write diagnostic logs, and no logs are ever sent off the device.

Network use

SyntheticPen makes no network connections. It does not contact our servers or any external service during installation or use.

This website

Everything above describes the desktop application. This website (syntheticpen.com) is separate and uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It is cookieless, sets no identifiers, does not fingerprint or track you across sites, and collects no personal data — only aggregate page metrics. The application itself still makes no network calls.

Third parties

We do not share information with third parties because we do not collect any. The application integrates no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Distribution and updates are handled by the Microsoft Store under Microsoft's own privacy terms.

Children's privacy

SyntheticPen does not collect personal information from anyone, including children, and is not directed at children.

Data security

Because no data is collected or transmitted, there is no personal data in our custody to secure. Files you create or load are protected by your own operating system's file permissions.

Your rights

Since we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. You retain full control of every file the application reads or writes on your device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the project's release notes.
